Part Five: Silas (2/2)

The second half of Silas' interview. In this part we crack open a few more beers and discuss subject material of songs, building a fan base, music theory, Devin Townsend, philosophy, the effect of the internet upon music, The X-Factor, redeeming the word "hippy", appearing at the Bloodstock festival, the future and playing live. Also look out for some great advice about adapting to change and keeping an open mind.

Part Four: Silas (1/2)

Kent metal band Silas provided so much gold that I'm splitting their interview into two parts: this is the first half. Silas had an interesting development that includes needing to largely reinvent themselves after losing a couple of their founding members. Hear them talk about making adjustments, finding a new frontman, writing and recording songs, the incognito influence of George Elliot and their somewhat confusing/nuanced/exploratory way of defining their music (it involves a sieve)...

Hear more about and keep up to date with the band on their Facebook page. Their EP To The Ground can be purchased from their merch store or you can find it on iTunes.

The second half of Silas' interview will be in part five, due on Monday February 13th.

Part Three: Rachael Kichenside

In part three, Glen talks to former Run Toto Run vocalist Rachael Kichenside about all the stuff you're becoming quite accustomed to by now. Rachael's experiences are wide ranging, and she talks enthusiastically about session work; writing and performing as a solo artist and as a part of a band and the differences therein; making friends and being involved in what's going on around you; networking; and the very best way to make scatty-genius video producers deliver on time. We also get a little bit of insight into what industry people are looking for in an act, and some fantastic advice for aspiring musicians.

Do not miss this one!

To the backdrop of passing siren-endowed vehicles, Glen talks to fledgling rock band Allied Arms about their experiences with songwriting, recording, and playing live. Also watch out for vignettes about disguised recording studios and the perils of playing brass instruments in November...
